What's the download Image Christie's Quote
"As my appreciation of music increases, one controversy in the business prevails the ethics of downloading music. I represent the demographic I like to term the middle of the road' when it comes to this issue. I have downloaded a significant amount, but this has not prevented me from spending money on the music that I love; rather, I spend more money than ever on CDs and concerts."

Bio
Christie is a 20 year-old junior from Littleton, Colo. who attends the University of San Diego where she is majoring in Biochemistry and English. She holds a position with the student government, Associated Students, where she serves as the Technical Director of Concerts, and is responsible for organizing sound production for all on-campus shows. She helps provide a variety of shows to students, as well as the general public. Her experience has included organizing shows ranging from small coffeehouse venues, which feature up-and-coming artists, to large arena shows that attract thousands of fans. By holding this position, Christie works closely with artists and has the opportunity to learn about the music industry through their perspective.

Growing up, Christie was fascinated by music and her brother furthered this by constantly opening her eyes to new artists that weren't necessarily on the radio. As she became more and more interested in music, technology advanced to the point where downloading music became feasible and easy. Christie states, "I have downloaded a significant amount of music, but this has not prevented me from spending money on the music that I love; rather, I spend more money than ever on CDs and concerts. Some artists I have worked with benefit directly from downloading. Word-of-mouth has always been the way for new bands to be exposed to fans, and since the advent of the Internet, word has spread faster than ever. I believe the ability to download music helps spread the work of underground artists trying to get their name out to the public. I feel that free downloading has helped, and can continue to help the music industry, as long as those who download realize that they must still support the artists they love by purchasing CDs and going to their shows."
